The Opportunity

The Manager of Application Engineering will work closely with sales, product management and others to select and configure AGI products suitable for each application by providing complete systems engineering resource planning (processing design, storage mechanical, structural) to ensure all engineering elements are working as intended as a system. The role will provide technical leadership plan, coordinate, and direct engineering department activities, personnel, and strategy. The role will also monitor internal and external customer demands and align team adequately to support sales and growth targets.

The Team

This role will report directly to the Director, Systems Sales Execution and will be responsible for managing a team of approximately six people. The role will collaborate with sales, product management and other cross-functions on various day to day operations.
Responsibilities

• Assure the overall output quality and efficiency of the Applications Engineering team, continuously improving the process infrastructure, and growing internal talent while driving the company’s vision for growth through successful execution of multiple large-scale projects.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality systems by leading complex technical projects through proper selection and configuration.
• Conduct pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluate opportunities according to customer specifications, and assist in development of turnkey proposals.
• Follow established engineering standards and product integrity. Apply methodical and safe engineering principles to drive system solutions for customers.
• Work with product management teams to plan and execute projects, ensuring that the teams have the appropriate information to be successful. Communicate new product opportunities to the product management team.
• Set departmental goals to ensure proactive work is being accomplished leading to a continuous improvement culture.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure department operates within corporate objectives and expectations.
• Provide technical support to the Sales execution teams (quoting/order fulfillment)
• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7 years’ experience leading customer and/or manufacturing projects. Ability to deliver complete mechanical system solutions and integrate multifunctional teams across various platforms.
• Valid driver’s license and passport for international travel required.
• Passionate about solving complex, matrixed problems, developing strategies and roadmaps, and executing plans that create urgency and value for all AGI stakeholders.
• Ability to achieve company directed KPIs as they relate to products, performance, including turnaround time, productivity, and quality.
• Experience defining applications engineering metrics, using them to drive decisions.
• Strong collaborator, able to navigate all levels of the organization. Has a track record of building positive relationships across a broad, diverse organization.
• Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to foster a culture of data and collaboration.
• Must have the ability to forecast and manage workloads, including prioritizing orders as needed.
• Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, AutoCAD. Inventor, Solidworks, and Vault preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP systems
